A Needle In A Haystack

I'd like to consider myself a well-rounded crafter. While I have my specialties, I've been known to dabble in other mediums just for fun. So last week I took a class to add another skill to the tool box. I learned the art of needle felting from the lovely Katatomic Labs. Now, if you've never heard of needle felting, it involves fluffy wool and sharp needles. What could go wrong, eh?

Well, I had a pretty successful session, managed to escape unscathed, and I created a flying bird who I have named Ollie. And I would post a photo, but I'm afraid I would be put to shame by these amazing needle felted items I found on Etsy.

I think the wire feet on these ducks by tracyemueller add an extra special touch!

I absolutely adore this Jack Russell Terrier by OhHiLucy. I already have three dogs, but I'm sure it wouldn't hurt to add one more if he was needle felted.

I love the floppy ears on this elephant. And I love the trunk. And the tail. Heck, I love everything about him! Blueberrie has a great touch!

This wee little bear from chetanddot is ready to brave the cold!

Weegreenspot makes adorable fuzzy sheep. I would like to see an entire flock of these guys on my inspiration shelf!

Well, I hope these sweet finds made you say "Awwww." After my post last week, it's the least I could do!

Those ducks are adorable! Well, they all are, but I especially love the ducks :)

Felting is something that I hadn't really known about until about a month ago....but now I find it everywhere! Very cool that you gave it a try.

No joke, I think those might be the cutest things I've ever seen!
Thanks for these! I love seeing other people's needlefelted creations. When I started doing it back in 2006, it hadn't really caught on yet. Now so many wonderful artists have put their own touch on the medium!

I had to tweet this post because it is perfect timing. I am taking a needle felting class tomorrow, never done it before and I'm really looking forward to it. These animals are so cute! I hope I don't suck too bad at it lol!

Thanks so much for including my little elephant in this adorable collection! And I appreciate the compliments :)

Needle felting is a lot of fun - I'm glad to hear you're enjoying it. Surprised that you came away "unscathed" - those needles are killer! I always poke myself repeatedly when I'm doing legs and tails... Keep thinking I need to invent some kind of practical protection for my fingertips :)
