Pretty Pom Giveaway
I've got a fun little giveaway for you all today, courtesy Meg of Under the Oak. Meg makes these great party poms and is giving one lucky reader a set of 5 in their choice of color(s). Holiday and party season is just getting started -- so I know lots of you could definitely use these at your next gathering!
But before we get to the giveaway details, I thought it'd be nice to get to know the girl behind the pom!
How did you get started making party accessories?
I've always been very crafty and I love having parties. I was a full time nanny for three girls and was in charge of the twins 8th birthday party. I searched and searched for really cute decorations but everything was very "themed". So instead I decided to hand make all of the decorations myself, and it's actually the first time I made the party poms! This started a "polka dot" theme and I just rolled with it. I hand made almost all of the decorations and I've been doing it for all of my parties ever since!
What's your top party decorating tip?
This is a tough one, I have lots of tips! But mostly I would say to remember the small details. I live in South Carolina and I love to have dinner parties under the big sweeping live oak trees (which is where "Under the Oak" came from!). I also never have a party without hanging
either the party poms or paper lanterns. My table is usually full of small vases of flowers and lots of candles. And I always have a small favor bag or box of treats for my guests. Usually its a small take out box of fresh cherries, or a hand stamped glassine bag filled with snack mix. For an outdoor party, adding sparklers to your napkin rings is always a hit! I think your guests really love these little details and they end up having a big impact!
I personally think those party poms would be great year-round, party or not! Do you have those adorable things hanging in your own home?
They really are great year-round! I do have them hanging in my house, but mostly because I am always making them and taking photos for the website. So I just leave them up because they are so colorful and fun to look at!
Where do you look for inspiration?
I'm a huge Martha Stewart fan. She is amazing. I get so excited looking through her magazines, especially "Martha Stewart Weddings". I've found almost all of my party decoration ideas in that magazine. She is truly talented.
Are you going to be adding anything new to your etsy shop soon?
Yes! The holidays are coming and they are my favorite! So there will be Thanksgiving and Christmas party pom sets coming soon. I also will be adding more favor bags and boxes, napkin ring poms, and some other special holiday items!
Can't wait to see those new items! Now, for the giveaway details!
