Sweet Finds: Spring Cleaning!

While March comes in like a lion, I like to knock out all of my spring cleaning before the weather is so beautiful it's painful to be inside! Here are some sweet Etsy finds to get your cleaning done while being handmade-friendly and eco-friendly.

I couldn't help but include a little lion & lamb in this post, in honor of March's well-known proverb: in like a lion and goes out like a lamb. The lion print is by Monkey Chow and the lamb is by Sharon Montrose.

Sweet Finds: May (?) Flowers

Okay, so it's not May. It's barely even March. Can we just skip the April showers? I've noticed a serious trend in what I've been hearting lately on Etsy. Flowers, flowers, and [you guessed it] more flowers!

Here are a few of my recent favorites.. enjoy!

This long necklace from aysetugrul would be perfect for an outdoor cocktail party once the weather gets warmer. It's sure to make a bold fashion statement!

I'm loving pretty much everything in Brydferth's shop! Gorgeous handmade rosettes to go on everything. Seriously, everything. Your head, your fingers, your shoes!

Not only did the color catch my eye right away, but this classy flowery belt from heartoflight might be just what I need to spruce up my own little grey dress.

Another long flower necklace, this one a little more understated than the first, but still just as lovely! Stop by lesbijouxdari to see several more beauties in the shop!

Well, I don't know about you, but it sure got a little more May-ish in here just now! Here's wishing you lots of beautiful flowers and warm weather just around the corner!

Tutorial Tuesday - Felt Flower Wreath

I love the slightly off-white color mixed with the bright threads on this pretty felt flower wreath, don't you? I know I've banished winter for a while, but I can make an exception for the winter white here.  Besides, it feels kind of Easter-ish to me.  Get the complete tutorial from The Purl Bee.

Who's got Redbird Style?

Thanks to everyone who checked out Redbird Style and giveaway a little over a week ago. Robin has such great designs in her shop and it sounds like everyone has fun picking out a favorite item and telling us what new colors they'd like to see for spring.

And today, I get to announce the winner.  Using random.org, the lucky number this time around was sweet 16.  And that means our winner is Christy of Sweet Tidings.  Congratulations! One cute hip pack coming your way.

If you didn't get to enter or win the giveaway, you can still pop in over at Robin's Etsy shop and have a look around for yourself!

Mini Monday - Demi looked great!

There were lots of great looks on the Red Carpet last night, but one of my favorites had to be Demi Moore. She wore a gorgeous Atelier Versace tiered gown in a peachy blush tone and paired it with pearls and lots of sparkle. Here's my take on her look:

What do you think? Who were your faves last night. And someone please tell me what Charlize was thinking with the bullseye boobie look.

Tessyla giveaway winner

Thanks to everyone who participated in the Tessyla print giveaway.  Tess has some very pretty prints in her shop that would be perfect for a spring makeover for your home, so check her out on Etsy if you haven't before.

Now for the winner... Using random.org, the lucky number this time was 23. And that means that you, "Erica Miss America," are the winner. (I'm secretly hoping to see you do the Miss America wave as you read this post.)  Congrats! Now you get to pick out two prints from Tess' shop.

Happy spring everyone!

And if you haven't already, be sure to check out the Redbird Style giveaway also going on right now (for just a little while longer, though).

Seen & Heard - Is spring here yet?

Cherry Blossom, © Matthew RiceI heard the meterologist say it on TV just the other day: "Meteorological spring is here."

Now, I don't know what makes it 'meteorological' spring (ok, yes I do) but I'll take it. Any way I can get it. I've had enough snow (at least till Christmas later this year) and bone-chilling wind, and since I can no longer wear cashmere, I'd just like to move on in to spring. Ok?

Thanks.

Speaking of spring... did you hear that the Spring I Heart Handmade market opened up yesterday? Well, it did.  And it's fabulous. (Yeah, I'm partial.)  Here's a little teaser for you:

You like how that's all color coordinated?  I do, too! I'm quite partial to yellow and even have been known to paint a few rooms with it. It's a color of challenge and stimulation. I learned that in one of my interior design classes years ago, but you don't have to take my word for it. Let me google that for you.

If you're curious about the intersection of color and marketing, check out this link. You'll get a quick overview on the basics of the psychology of color.  Some of it may even help you with your indie business.

Now back to yellow... As much as I like it, my Colorstrology tells me that my real color is Beryl Green, Pantone 16-5515.  It even goes so far as to tell me that I'm knowledgeable, determined, and quick-witted.

You're smart, Colorstrology. Very smart.  But you left out the part where you say I'm pretty.  ;-)

Well, that's it for my very first Seen & Heard.  I hope you get something out of it, even if it's just a few cool links to keep you on the Internet longer. Let me know if you found anything here useful or interesting! And by all means, go play with Colorstrology and tell me what they say about you.

Seen & Heard - it's my new thing

I spend way more time on the Internets than I should. (Yes, Internets.) Now there's a downside to that for more reasons than I care to go in to, but the plus side is that I come across a lot of interesting sites and people.

So, I said to myself: "Hey you! Why don't you start a weekly post where you share and document all the neat and newsy things you found? Surely a few people can find some use for all that good stuff!"

And I said back: "Genius, girl! Not only can you share this stuff with others but you'll also be able to get control of your rather large list of bookmarks in Firefox and just house some of your faves on the ol' blog-a-roo."

Look for my first post in this column this weekend! And by all means, chat with me on twitter and share some of your faves with me. You may find yourself mentioned here one day...
